Centralparks – meeting TTTF communication

Centralparks - meeeting TTTF communication

The first meeting of the Thematic Transnational Task Force on communication of protected areas with local communities was held between 24th and 26th June 2019 in a picturesque village of Czerwienne in the Polish part of High Tatra Mts. The meeting was organized and moderated by the project partner Ekopsychology Society. In the introduction of the meeting the Lead Partner EURAC Research presented the Centralparks project and Ekopsychology Society as the leader of the work package WPT1 Integration of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in the Carpathian region presented the participants components of the work package with special focus on communication of protected areas with local communities. The discussion on the availability of existing documents revealed that there is a lack of practical guide for such a communication in the Carpathian region. The more significant will be the output of this working group – Guidelines on communication between protected areas and local communities in the Carpathians. The following exchange of experience between experts strengthened the need for this type of practical document which will further improve the nature protection managers’ abilities to communicate with the public, in particular with local communities. Experts set up tasks to be fulfilled until the next meeting which is preliminary planned for June or September next year and will be coordinated with the biodiversity group.
